Our Story
It usually starts with a question. Where did you get that? For twenty-five years, friends and family have asked us some version of it. In our living rooms, over dinner, in a text with a photo attached. Barrington House is the answer, finally gathered in one place.
We are Alison and Elizabeth, best friends since college. We don’t share a house, and we don’t share a single taste. What we share is an eye for things that last, and a long habit of helping the people we love make a home feel like themselves.
The mark is a door. The front of Alison’s house, a heavy steel-and-glass arch, substantial and architectural and quiet. It is our shorthand for everything we choose. If a piece has that same quality, it belongs here. If it doesn’t, it stays out.
What we carry is what we already buy for ourselves. Belgian flax linen. Lambswool throws woven in Vermont. Candles poured in a heavy charcoal vessel that becomes a small object on the shelf when the wick is gone. Original studies in oil and graphite, framed in quarter-sawn oak. A small, considered catalogue. Honest materials, real makers, and pieces that look better with use.
There are three ways to shop with us. The Everyday Shop holds what we keep year-round. The Edit is small and seasonal, refreshed a few times a year. The Vault is where the one-of-a-kind pieces live, found once and not repeated. We do not run sales and we do not mark anything down. The price is set around what the makers need and what we would pay ourselves.
We are based in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We answer our own emails. Welcome home.
